Supporting Survivors Beyond the Hospital Room
Threads of Strength is an initiative of the You Are More Project that provides survivors leaving the hospital after a sexual assault examination with comfortable clothing, essential items, and supportive resources.
Following a sexual assault examination, survivors are often unable to leave the hospital in their original clothing, as items may be retained for evidence. During what can be one of the most vulnerable moments in a survivor's journey, Threads of Strength helps ensure they leave with something new, comfortable, and supportive.
Every item in the Threads of Strength collection is designed with intention. Through subtle affirmations and meaningful symbols, each piece serves as a reminder of resilience, healing, and the strength survivors carry within them.
Threads of Strength is powered through apparel sales from the You Are More Project. For every two apparel items purchased, one sweatsuit is donated to a Survivor Support Package, helping ensure survivors leaving the hospital have access to comfortable clothing and essential support items.
Why This Matters
Leaving the hospital after a sexual assault examination can be an incredibly difficult and vulnerable experience.
Survivors may be physically exhausted, emotionally overwhelmed, and uncertain about what comes next. In this moment, even basic comfort and care can play an important role in helping someone feel supported, and safe as they transition out of hospital care.Threads of Strength was created in response to this gap in support, ensuring survivors have access to comfort items and resources when they leave the hospital.
